Les lumières et le code noir

Abstract

Texte scandaleux et honteux, le Code Noir légalisait la vision des esclavagistes selon laquelle le Noir était un bien, un objet que lřon pouvait vendre. Cette  exclusion du Noir, de lřesclave de la communauté humaine, acceptée dans toute lřEurope motivait et accentuait la traite négrière et lřesclavage. Ce  commerce honteux engrangeait des grands capitaux dans lřindifférence. Mais le silence et lřindifférence des philosophes des Lumières quant au sort  des esclavages et surtout leur non dénonciation du Code Noir reste aussi scandaleux que la traite négrière. Pire, certains philosophes des Lumières à  lřimage de Voltaire, ont activement participé à ce commence honteux. Nous sommes ici sur le terrain de lřhistoire. Cřest pourquoi pour une analyse  efficiente de cette abomination historique, nous userons de la méthode comparative qui nous permettra de révéler la contradiction entre un mouvement  supposé défendre lřunicité du genre humain, fondement même du mouvement des Lumières, face à un tel acte de négation absolue de la    personne humaine.

English title: The enlightenment movement and the code noir

A scandalous and shameful text, the Code Noir legalized the vision of slaveholders according to which the black was an object that could be sold. This exclusion of blacks from the human community accepted throughout Europe, motive and accentuated the slave trade and slavery. This shameful trade  garnered great capital in indifference. But the silence and indifference of the philosophers of the Enlightenment regarding the fate of slaves and  especially their nondenunciation of the Code Noir remains as scandalous as the slave trade. Worse, some Enlightenment philosophers like Voltaire  actively participated in this shameful trade. We are here on the ground of history. This is why, for efficient analysis of this historical abomination, we will  use the comparative method to allow up to reveal the contradiction of the initiators of the movement supposed to defend the uniqueness of human race,  the very foundation of the Enlightenment movement faced with such an act of absolute negation of the human person.
