Mixed Mesodermal Tumour Of The Ovary Coexisting With Adenocarcinoma Of The Ileum In A Postmenopausal Nigerian Woman
Abstract
Mesodermal mixed tumour of the ovary is a very uncommon tumour constituting
less than 1% of ovarian cancers. It is a very aggressive tumour with post operative
survival usually shorter than 24 months. Primary adenocarcinoma of the small
bowel is also a rare malignancy constituting about 1% of gastrointestinal cancers
and is associated with poor survival outcome. And uncommon is adenocarcinoma
of the ileum. It is highly unusual for two rare and aggressive cancers to coexist in
the same patient. This to my knowledge has not been reported in the literature.
