Abstract

The study's purpose was to determine whether smallholder farmers in Gwagwalada were effectively adopting orangefleshed sweet potato (OFSP) technologies through communication channels. SPSS version 24 was used to enter and analyze the questionnaire/data. The study variables were merged using descriptive statistics such as frequencies, percentages, mean scores, and standard deviation. The following objectives were used as the study's guiding principles: to elucidate the socioeconomic characteristics of sweet potato farmers, to pinpoint the communication channels used to disseminate OFSP technologies, to discover the reason for their rejection of the innovative technologies, and to determine the best means of communication to use to disseminate information to OFSP farmers. To learn about the challenges, 120 questionnaires were provided to OFSP farmers who were chosen at random. Journals and publications were evaluated as secondary data. Questionnaires and interviews were used to collect primary data. The researcher concluded that ICT is the most effective mode of communication for disseminating OFSP technologies to farmers. The medium of communication also has a big impact on technological adoption. According to the report, bad network, insufficient facilities, and a lack of awareness of internet applications, particularly cyber extension, are impeding access to technology diffusion. According to the study, it is vital to make an effort to increase cyber expansion as well as improve social facilities in rural areas.
