Abstract

The study investigated students’ perception of Sexuality Education in Secondary Schools in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State. The menace of sexual issues with their attendant consequences in the society motivated the study. The population of study consisted of all students in Secondary Schools in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State numbering seventeen thousand, six hundred and nine. Stratified Random Sampling was used to pick two hundred students. To achieve the aim of the research, two research questions and one null hypothesis were posed and postulated respectively. Survey research design was employed while one questionnaire was developed for data collection. The data were analyzed using mean scores and t-test statistic. The major findings showed that students perceived provision of Sexuality Education Programme positively and would prefer professional counsellors to dispense it. In the light of these findings, it was recommended that more professional counsellors be drawn in to dispense sexuality education counselling for students. With this in-put, it is expected, that the menace of sexually related problems among students in Jos North Local Government Secondary Schools in particular and Plateau State in general will be curtailed.
