Author Biography
M Frehiwot
Dr. Mjiba Frehiwot is a research fellow in the History and Politics Section of the Institute of African Studies at the University of Ghana. Her research focuses on Pan-Africanism and education in the era of Kwame Nkrumah and the African Diaspora. She holds a Master of Social Work and Bachelor of Social Work. She is both an academic and an activist in the Pan-African Movement. Dr. Frehiwot has been organizing in Pan-African local and international organisations for twenty-two years, starting as a student organiser at San Jose State University. She is a member of the African Studies Association Africa and was a member of the organizing committee of the 2nd Biennal Kwame Nkrumah Intellectual and Cultural Festival and is the Chair of the Conference Secretariat of the 60th Anniversary of the All-African People’s Conference.

Abstract
Dr Mjiba Frehiwot shares important insights about the All Africa People’s Conference of 1958, and the significance of its revisiting that will occur at the Institute of African Studies in December 2018. Her interview enlightens us about Pan-Africanism, Continentalism, and the complexities of race that have dogged some of the attempts at collective agendas across so-called sub-Saharan and North Africa.
