Re-reading violence and insurgency in two African novels
Abstract
Terrorism is today, a global phenomenon that is threatening almost all nations of the world. This real and present danger is most felt in third world and developing countries. This is because of the glaring lack of requisite and effective security architecture and equipment. Non state actors therefore exploit this lack and use it terrorize, intimidate and subjugate the masses through violence, kidnapping and other acts of lawlessness. This paper discusses the portrayal of violence and insurgency in two African novels with a view to highlighting this social malaise for possible lessons.
