Borderline ovarian tumour in a teenager: a case report
Abstract
Borderline ovarian tumours are epithelial tumours of the ovary with both malignant and non-malignant features. They exhibit cellular proliferation and nuclear atypia and do not show any infiltrative growth pattern. We present a case of an 18 year old patient who had a staging laparotomy for ovarian cancer and had Total Abdominal Hysterectomy and Bilateral Salpingo-Oophorectomy (TAH-BSO). The histology reported a borderline papillary serous cystadenocarcinoma and no further treatment was offered.
