Magnetic effect on oscillatory blood flow in a constricted tube
Abstract
The paper considers the oscillatory flow of a Newtonian fluid in an artery with a mild stenosis. Invoking the slip boundary condition for the velocity, closed form analytical solutions have been obtained. Quantitative discussions for the velocity profile, resistive impedance and the variation of the wall shear stress are given. The results are compared with results obtained in the literature and the comparison shows good agreement. This study shows that the volume flow rate curve attains a maximum value when b, the frequency parameter tends to zero, whereas the impedance to blood flow increases exponentially with increase in the frequency parameter.
