Plasma Proteins Of Barbus holubi and Clarias Gariepinus (Teleostei)
Abstract
The plasma proteins of the teleosts, Barbus holubi and Clarias gariepinus were investigated by means of cellulose-acetate and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Characteristic patterns were obtained with both methods for each species. It was found that the application of human nomenclature to the patterns obtained in the fish species studied is not valid. Fractions 12 and 17 of B. holubi were further isolated and it was found that the approximate average molecular mass of fraction 12 is 55 500 and the isoelectric point 5,81. In the case of fraction 17 the values were found to be 89 100 and about 3,8 respectively.
