Comparison of Hatchability in Two Breeder Layers

Abstract

This research work was carried out on comparison of egg hatchability between two layers breeds Rhode Island red and white leghorn.  The hatchability records were collected from year 2005 - 2006 on each breeds selected from hatchery farms in Ijebu-ode local Government.  The result were subjected to various statistic analysis, the result of the analysis and T-test reveals that there is no significance difference (P<0.001) between rejected eggs from Rhode island red and white leghorn, there is significance difference (P<0.001) between the infertile eggs of Rhode island red and white leghorn and there is significance difference (P<0.001) between the egg hatchability of Rhode island red and white leghorn.  In view of the result of the analysis white leghorn have higher egg hatchability percentage than Rhode Island Red.
