Comments on the sustenance of poultry production in Nigeria, in an era of rising costs of feed ingredients

Abstract

The prospects of sustaining poultry production in Nigeria during an era of global increases in the prices of feed ingredients were examined. Current challenges of the poultry industry, importance of nutrition in poultry business, sustainable alternatives to poultry feed production and some basic tips for sustainable feeding and feed formulation were examined. The paper argued that practitioners should look inwards for alternative feed ingredients for cheaper formulation of poultry feeds in order to continue producing affordable products for the populace.
