Le syndrome de Fraley symptomatique: A propos d’une observation
Abstract
Fraley in 1966 described a painful renal syndrome corresponding to upper hydrocalycosis related to extrinsic compression of the neck of the calyx by a vascular pedicle. Mostly asymptomatic with incidental radiological discovery, the syndrome may present with complications. We report the case of a patient with a painful left loin associated with stenosis of the upper caly ceal neck due to compression by a vascular pedicle. The diagnosis is based on ultrasound data, intravenous urography, and retrograde ureteropyelography. Surgical treatment consisted of an end-to-end anastomosis (infundibuloplasty of the upper calyceal neck) on a double J ureteral catheter. Follow up was marked by the early disappearance of loin pain. Radiological assessment after 3 months revealed a significant improvement in the dilatation and a resolution of the infundibular obstruction.
