Model for expressing leaf photosynthesis in terms of weather variables
Abstract
A theoretical mathematical model for describing photosynthesis in individual leaves in terms of weather variables is proposed. The model utilizes a series of efficiency parameters, each of which reflect the fraction of potential photosynthetic rate permitted by the different environmental elements. These parameters are useful to breeders and agriculturalists involved with increasing the efficiency of the utilization of solar energy by plants. The significance and use of the parameters is discussed.
