The African Journal of Rheumatology is published biannually by the African League of Associations for Rheumatology (AFLAR). The journal aims to publish papers on basic and clinical research in rheumatism and arthritis and be a vessel of sharing knowledge a close the globe. Original research work, reviews, case reports and other relevant scientific work will be published in the journal on the understanding that the work submitted will not be under consideration in any other journal. This must be stated by the authors when submitting papers. All submitted papers will be acknowledged and are peer reviewed. The journal will strive to communicate to the authors the verdict of the reviewers within three months form date of submission.

Studies on patients and volunteers require informed consent and this must be clearly stated in the paper. Authors of this kind of papers must also state the study has been cleared by the relevant ethics committee Submitted papers should follow the guidelines below;
1. Original research papers should follow the IMRAD format and the abstract should be structured and not more than 30 references. The paper should not exceed 3000 words.
(ii) Reviews should have an abstract, introduction and the rest of the review should have the necessary sub-headings with no more than 50 references. The review should have no more than 4500 words.
2. Case reports should have a background, introduction followed by the discussion with not more than 20 references. The word count should not exceed 2000 words. Perspectives or scientific letters should be in prose form and should not exceed 1500 words.
3. References should be numbered in order of appearance (Vancouver style) and only those cited should appear in the reference list.
