Influence of Emotional Intelligence and Work Family Conflict on Job Satisfaction of Married Female Employees in Selected Public Organizations in Nigeria

Abstract

The study was designed to examine the influence of emotional intelligence and work family conflict on job satisfaction. The survey research was carried out in selected public organizations in Southwest Nigeria. A total of 256 participants took part in the study. All respondents are female. Questionnaires containing standardized scales that measure emotional intelligence, interrole conflict and job satisfaction and demographic characteristic sections were used for data collection. It was hypothesized that there will be significant influence of emotional intelligence on job satisfaction. The t-test of independence measure was used to test the hypothesis, and the result obtained confirmed the hypothesis (P<.01). The result also showed that work family conflict significantly influenced job satisfaction (P<.01). The study concluded that emotional intelligence was positively related to job satisfaction. Emotional management skills for employees were consequently recommended.
