Some Haematological And Plasma Biochemical Parameters Of Farmed Catfish (Clarias gariepinus, Burchell) Broodstock In Ibadan, Nigeria
Abstract
Blood haematology and biochemical parameters are good indicator to determine the health status of fish. In this study, 380 farmed catfish broodstock comprising of 190 males and 190 females blood were collected and analysed for some haematological and biochemical parameters in other to provide baseline data for assessing the health status of catfish broodstocks. Results shows that there were no significant differences between the heamatological and biochemical parameters such as haemoglobin, packed cell volume, sodium, potassium, chloride, bicarbonate, calcium, phosphate, urea, creatinine, alkaline phosphatase, alanine transaminase, aspartate transaminase total protein, albumin, globulin and triglycende between males and females farmed catfish broodstock..
