Manpower Development Programme In Kenneth Dike Library, University Of Ibadan
Abstract
This study examined the manpower development programme in Kenneth Dike library, University of Ibadan. Data collection was by questionnaire, which was administered by the researcher to about one hundred and forty three (143) staff out of which one hundred and twenty (120) were received and analysed using frequency counts and percentages. The investigation revealed that the University of Ibadan has various manpower development programmes which are necessary to update the knowledge of the staff on the job. Other findings also show that training is needed on regular basis to enhance efficiency on the job.
The study also recommends that
- Information managers in the library should undertake a systematic training and manpower programmes to build the skills of the current work force in the library.
- The management team of the library must ensure that people with good knowledge and high multi-skills are employed and constantly trained and retrained at least once in every three years.
- Training should be relevant to the job offered to the trainee on a regular basis. It is important to states that the staff should be assigned duties that are commensurate with their qualification.
