Peer Review
All original research articles and case reports/series should be accompanied by an IRB approval/waiver before they shall be assigned to potential reviewers. In cases where the IRB approval is not available, the authors indicate in the comments to the letter field the reasons for this.
Reviewing is done via the Open Journal System. Editors will send out review requests to potential reviewers by email using the Open Journal Management System. Information in the review request include: Title of paper, a summary of paper, and the allowed duration for review. These are to guide the potential reviewer to either accept or decline the invitation to review the manuscript. This can be done by clicking on the appropriate link in the review request email received by the potential reviewer.
The standard allowed time for a review of Original Research is 2 weeks from the time of acceptance. For other categories of manuscript 1 week is allowed from the time of acceptance. However, if a reviewer is willing but requires more time, the request should be accepted and the handling Editor contacted to agree on an extended deadline. All manuscripts are assigned to two reviewers for comments before a final decision is taken on the manuscript by the Editorial Manager which is typically within 3 months.
