An Analysis of Recovery Interventions by the African Development Bank
Abstract
Africa’s development has been in crisis proportions for decades now.
The developmental challenges include, among others, poverty eradication, high unemployment rates and poor infrastructure. This means that developmental challenges facing Africans remain monumental. In
addition to these challenges, the 2007 global economic recession seems to have exacerbated the developmental challenges. This article is an attempt to analyse the recovery interventions by the African Development Bank (AfDB). While a literature review is undertaken in this regard, data emanating from the speeches by the President of the AfDB that has relevance to the global recession is also analysed. In this analysis, Africa’s developmental
challenges are compared to the functions of the AfDB. This article further elucidated on the effects of recession data, with a critique of the recovery interventions
