‘Only a few cases of skirmishes here and there’: Interrogating the ‘truth’ of an election in the Kenyan blogosphere
Abstract
A substantial amount of intellectual labour has gone into the analysis of Kenya’s 2007 post-election condition. However, most of this existing scholarship fails to interrogate the underlying issues that ‘new media’ seemed to raise about the state of ‘truth’ in the country. Through a close reading of Kenyan blog sites, this paper sets out to examine ways through which the blogosphere revealed an undeniable level of uncertainty or misinformation about Kenya’s numerous mysteries with particular focus on the 2007 general election.
