Abstract

Africa is lagging in Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) skills and many countries on the continent are still struggling to embrace it. Findings from the study done for this article reveal that adequate government policies, specific funding for 4IR-related projects, strategic collaboration and political will play a critical role in developing the skills required in 4IR. Likewise, institutions of learning need to be reformed, their curricula reviewed, their delivery, assessment and certification modes redesigned, educators upskilled, and strategic partnerships formed to produce graduates fit for 4IR. Also, private companies need to ensure that their employees are equipped with the skills needed for 4IR and that they can work with emerging technologies. The findings provide insight for policymakers, education institutions, and human resource development practitioners to promote the development of 4IR skills.
