Okigbo’s Labyrinths and African Oral Performance: A Study of Okigbo’s Poetic Intention
Abstract
Okigbo is a well known poet. Like a good many African writers, his indebtedness to African oral tradition is not in doubt. We are interested in taking a look at this phenomenon barring the fact that Okigbo is often considered a difficult poet. Above all, as performance poetry is increasingly becoming popular, we wish to determine the status of the collection of poems in Labyrinths in this regard.
