Abstract

Valorization of waste of the Gelidium sesquipedale alga in the culture of
the Corn plants The present study relates to the valorization of waste of the Gelidium sesquipedale alga in the culture of the Corn plants. To complete this work we adopted a biotechnological process of treatment and stabilization of this waste, by the setting in oeuvre of the
stocks of two bacteria lactic and yeast selected thanks to their capacity acidifying, fermentative and antibacterial. The mixture of a suitable proportion of the leaven and source of carbon, allows a reduction in the pH, the increase in acidity, the elimination of
the pathogenic micro-organisms, and the stability of the finished product used later on like fertilizer of the ground. During fermentation, the degradation of the organic matter allows the enrichment of the finished product in essential biogenic salts for the development of the plants. The study of the effect of waste of the alga treated on the growth of the plants is carried out by spreading of three different quantities, (10t/ha, 20t/ha, 40t/ha) in basins of a surface of 0, 1256 m2 compared with a witness only treated with water. The unit was seed seeds of, and then sprinkled each 15 days. The results obtained show that, plus the
quantity of added alga increases, plus the development of the various parts of the plant (the length, the diameter of the stems, and number it sheets) increases, and more the output too. The Corn seed yield is from (16.32 t/ha), (9.55 t/ha) and (4.74 t/ha) respectively for 40 t/ha, 20 t/ha and 10 t/ha. For its part, the witness has an output of
2.54 t/ha.
