Peer review
Assessment by editorial board
The Editorial Secretary, upon acknowledging receipt of the submitted manuscript will review it to ascertain the conformity of the manuscript to AJERD requirements. Thereafter, the manuscript will be forwarded to the Editor-in-Chief who will also cross check and assigns the paper to an Editor who falls within the discipline of the submitted manuscript. The Editor will process the manuscript further by assigning a minimum of two reviewers to the paper. The Board may decide to reject manuscripts that aren't in compliance with AJERD standards.
Blind peer review
Assigned manuscripts are reviewed by a minimum of two experts from which a single negative review is enough for the Editor to make decision on the report. The identity of reviewers and the authors usually remain anonymous to give a double blind review of submissions. After the review, the Editor evaluates the reviews' opinions and makes a recommendation to the Editorial Board for the final decision. The manuscript may be accepted, rejected or sent back to the authors for revision.
Submission of Revised Manuscripts
When authors have revised their manuscript in response to the reviewers' comments, they are to submit the revised manuscript together with their response to reviewers’ comments. The revised version may be sent once again to the original reviewers to confirm if the revisions have been adequately carried. Depending on the reviewers' comments, the article may be accepted or re-review.
Decision on Manuscript
A submitted manuscript may be rejected by an editor if; the manuscript is not within the scope for AJERD, the write-up is not in accordance with AJERD’s requirements for relevance and novelty, the similarities index exceeds 20%, and if the integrity of the presented results is in doubt. Also, manuscript with lack of novelty or originality can still be rejected after the review process. A manuscript that does not align with AJERD scope will be returned to the author and the author will be advised to submit same to a more appropriate publication outlet. When a substantial number of potential reviewers decline the invitation to review, this indicates that the paper's aim and audience do not align with AJERDs’ and such manuscript may be rejected.
