An unusual presentation of Richter syndrome with pulmonary tuberculosis in Nigeria: A rare case with poor prognosis
Abstract
Background- Richter’s syndrome (RS) and pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) coexisting in the same patient is very rare. The aim of this paper is to report the first case of RS with PTB in 12years in our institution Case Report- This report presents the case of a 60 year old male retired military officer who presented with progressive generalized swellings, cough and weight loss with a past history of prostate cancer in a tertiary institution in Nigeria. He had an unusual presentation of RS and PTB for which he was placed on appropriate cytoreductive and antikoch’s therapy.
Conclusion- There was partial response but patient defaulted in follow up and his condition deteriorated with poor prognosis. He died 8weeks later due to refractory disease.
