Abstract

Morbidly adherent placenta often presents as a case of retained placenta or occasionally encountered at caesarian section especially repeat caesarian section. O.T. had placenta percreta and presented as a case of acute abdomen with haemoperitoneum in pregnancy. The haemoperitoneum resulted from complete placenta penetration of the uterine wall. She was treated with urgent laparotomy and caesarian hysterectomy. Placenta percreta with intraperitoneal bleeding should be considered a differential diagnosis in cases of acute abdomen in pregnancy; particularly in patients with risk for morbidly adherent placenta.
