Cow’s Milk Protein Allergy in a Toddler: A Case Report

Abstract

Cow’s milk protein allergy (CMPA) has been reported as one of the common food allergies in infants and young children in literature. CMPA presents with non-specific symptoms leading to over- or under-diagnosis which leads to withdrawal of milk-containing food items from meals of infants and children resulting in under-nutrition and poor growth in some cases. In Benin most cases of ‘suspected CMPA’ are managed based on parental understanding and very few are properly diagnosed and managed. To the knowledge of the authors, there is paucity of data on CMPA in Nigeria, thus we report a case of a two year old girl with CMPA.
