Occlusion intestinale aiguë par incarcération du grêle dans le ligament large : une observation clinique Acute intestinal obstruction by incarceration of the small intestine in the broad ligament: a case report

Abstract

Hernia of the broad ligament is rare etiology of the intestinal obstruction. We report the case of a 65-year-old patient, multiparous, with a confirmed acute intestinal obstruction by CT scan. Surgical laparotomy investigation revealed a strangled internal hernia of the left broad ligament. The treatment consisted of a reduction of the herniated loop and closure of the abnormal orifice. The postoperative course was uneventful. In the instance of small bowel occlusion, it can be crucial to evoke the diagnosis of internal hernia regardless of the patient’s history.

Les hernies du ligament large constituent des étiologies rares d’occlusion intestinale. Nous rapportons dans cette observation le cas d’une patiente de 65 ans, sans antécédent chirurgical, grande multipare, ayant présenté une occlusion intestinale aiguë confirmée à la tomodensitométrie. L’exploration chirurgicale par laparotomie avait mis en évidence une hernie interne étranglée du ligament large gauche. Le traitement a consisté en une réduction de l’anse herniée et une fermeture de l’orifice anormal. Les suites opératoires ont été simples.
