Submissions are accepted on the understanding that they have not been published elsewhere and that they are subject to editorial revision. All material published is the copyright of The Nigerian Veterinary Journal. Before submitting, consulting current issues of the Journal could be helpful in conforming with the editorial guideline.
FORMAT FOR ARTICLES: English of a high standard should be used in all cases. Manuscripts should be typed using Microsoft® Word (97-2003, 2007 or 2016, formats), spaced with at least 1.15 pt margins, in Times New Roman, Font Size 12, with line numbers. The Editorial Board may return any manuscript that does not comply with the stipulated guidelines.
Citing of reference in the manuscript should be first authors name with the year in bracket e.g. (Ahmed, 1988) or Ahmed (1988). Where there are two authors, both their names should be written separated by “and” with the year (Adeleye and Sofola, 2010) or Adeleye and Sofola (2010). Where there are more than two authors the first authors name should be followed by the suffix et al (Ahmed et al., 1988) or Ahmed et al. (1988). When several references are cited together in the text, they should be listed in chronological order e.g., “. . . penile erection and ejaculation (Sexton and Jarow, 1997; Baccetti et al., 2002; Scarano et al., 2006; Condorelli et al., 2018; Long et al., 2018; Negwan et al., 2018) invariably leading.”
All publications cited within the text should be presented in a list of references at the end of the text and should be arranged alphabetically (by authors name and year) and in this order. All authors’ surnames followed by initials must be capitalized. Next is the year of publication in bracket {if several publications by the same author(s) in one year are cited, use letters a, b, c, etc, after the year of publication to differentiate them (e.g., 1990a, 1990b, etc.)}. The title of the publication cited, written in small letters except the first letter. When books and theses are cited, the first letter of every key word is capitalized. A processing fee of five thousand naira (N5,000) or $25 is to be paid along with each submitted manuscript before the article can be sent to reviewers.
A page charge of ₦4,000 (Four Thousand Naira) or $20 per typed page is levied while ₦1,000 (One Thousand Naira or $5 is charged per image.
